Touted guard D.J. Carton announces his transfer to Marquette from Ohio State


CLOSE Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski had to be grinning from ear to ear Wednesday night. Minutes after opening the Golden Eagles virtual post-season team banquet, guard D.J. Carton announced via Twitter he planned to transfer to Marquette. It’s official??? let’s go???? pic.twitter.com/xHdDUZGqd5 — DJ Carton (@DJCarton) April 16, 2020 Carton, a dynamic 6-foot-2 point guard from Iowa, played in 20 games as a freshman at Ohio State this past season. He announced Jan. 30 he was taking a leave of absence from the team because of mental health issues and announced March 19 he was leaving the program. Carton averaged 10.4 points and shot 47.7% overall (71 of 149) for the Buckeyes. He could file for a wavier to play immediately in 2020-21 but is also reportedly considering a pro career if he does not receive a waiver.  Marquette needs to fill the void created by the departures of Markus Howard…
