
COLUMBUS, Ohio — When C.J. Hicks of Archbishop Alter High School became the third member of Ohio State football’s 2022 recruiting class, the decision was a bit of a relief. Despite still being two years away from signing a National Letter of Intent and graduation the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Hicks didn’t want to waste any more time. He knew he wanted to be a Buckeye and saw no reason in prolonging that decision. “I just wanted to get it out of the way,” Hicks told cleveland.com. “The recruiting process can get stressful at some points.” Hicks’ idea of stressful is being a 16-year-old sophomore in high school who already holds scholarship offers from 28 schools. The offers aren’t a problem. It’s what comes with those offers that can sometimes be overwhelming. There’s a balance to recruiting.
