Oregon governor Kate Brown advises against large gatherings through Sept., impacts game vs. Ohio State


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Oregon governor Kate Brown announced that the Oregon Health Authority is advising against having any large gatherings through September. That would include Ohio State football’s trip to Eugene to face the Ducks on Sept. 12. The matchup will be the Buckeyes’ first true road game against a Power Five teams since knocking off Oklahoma 45-24 in 2017. “There is some difficult news to share,” Gov. Brown said. “Large gatherings, including live sporting events with audiences, concerts, festivals, and conventions will not be able to return until we have a reliable treatment or prevention like a vaccine.” The game would be the second Ducks home game — Autzen Stadium holds a capacity of 54,000 people — of the season, with Oregon hosting FCS North Dakota State in its season opener.
