COLUMBUS, Ohio — Cade Stover came to Ohio State as a no-question, set-in-stone, straight out of central casting Football Player. Then the 2018 Ohio Mr. Football out of Mansfield Lexington started his tour of the Buckeye position groups. Recruited as a linebacker, he shifted over to defensive end before the end of his freshman season. Then last spring he made a more dramatic flip and joined what at the time was a veteran-heavy tight end room. Being a jack of all trades has value, but at some point, Stover both wanted and needed to lock into an identity. “This is a big spring for him,” OSU coach Ryan Day said. “This is the time.
