Ohio State announced its male and female Athletes of the Year on Thursday and former Buckeye quarterback Justin Fields and track and field shot put star Adelaide Aquilla both received the honor. Both will now go on the ballots for Big Ten Athlete of the Year awards, to be announced by the league on July 13. Fields is now in the NFL after being selected by the Chicago Bears with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 draft. His 2020 may have been bridled a bit by fewer games because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but he was still Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, the Big Ten Quarterback of the Year, and won the Chicago Tribune Silver Football.
