No shocker: Quarterback competition is biggest question for Ohio State as fall approaches

Editor’s Note: This is the first in a series of stories looking at the 10 most pressing questions facing Ohio State football as it prepares for the 2021 season. Today: The quarterbacks Well, there’s no reason to avoid the obvious. Ohio State has a number of questions as it prepares for what is expected to be a much more normal 2021 football season after the COVID-related chaos of 2020. None is bigger than at quarterback. The Justin Fields era is over. Fields led Ohio State to the College Football Playoff in both his seasons, including the title game against Alabama last year. He threw for 63 touchdowns with only nine interceptions, completing 68 percent of his passes while adding a running threat. His toughness and leadership will also be sorely missed. In other words, big shoes to fill for three possible successors who haven’t thrown a collegiate pass — redshirt freshmen…
