The 2021 Ohio State Buckeyes have compiled the most naturally talented wide receiver room in the 247Sports era. This is a statement of fact, not opinion. Half of the Buckeyes’ eight scholarship receivers were 247Sports Composite five-stars. Ohio State is the only team that can claim that since 247Sports got its start in 2010. In fact, only one other team has managed even three at the same time, a 2017 Alabama team that featured Robert Foster, Calvin Ridley and Jerry Jeudy. But it goes beyond the former five-star recruits. Of the eight scholarship receivers on Ohio State’s roster, seven of them ranked as Top 100 players. The other is Chris Olave, a preseason All-American and two-time All-Big Ten selection. Compare that to the 2019 Alabama roster, which eventually produced a quartet of first-round picks at wide receiver, and that room had only five Top 100 prospects.
