Dargan Southard, Des Moines Register PLEASANT HILL — Xavier Nwankpa will announce his college commitment Wednesday evening, bringing an end to the lengthy recruitment of Southeast Polk’s five-star safety. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound senior is the Register’s No. 1 in-state 2022 prospect. According to the 247Sports Composite, he is the No. 1 safety and No. 11 overall prospect in the 2022 class. He is a two-time All-Iowa Elite Team selection by the Register, and helped lead the Rams to their first Class 5A state championship in school history this fall.
