Best friends E.J. Liddell, Keith Randolph Jr. on opposing sides for Ohio State-Illinois

Keith Randolph was just getting his middle school career underway when his coach gave him a warning. Randolph’s Grant Yankees were set to face Signal Hill and their physically imposing center, who wore No. 32. Randolph was already physically imposing at about 6-1, but in his first-ever middle school game, he’d be going against a 6-9 kid. His name was E.J. Liddell, and he wasn’t actually 6-9, he just looked it to Randolph, who had no way of knowing the two would eventually become best friends.
