
Oregon State freshman Sarah Haendiges dug out of a bases-loaded, seventh-inning jam as the No. 3-seeded Beavers edged No. 2 Ohio State 4-3 Friday at the NCAA softball Knoxville Regional. After the Buckeyes loaded the bases with two hits and a walk in the bottom of the seventh, Haendiges set down the final three Ohio State hitters, the final two by strikeout, to help the Beavers advance in the winner’s bracket. Oregon State (34-19) plays the Tennessee-Campbell winner at 9 a.m. Saturday in Knoxville, Tenn. The winner advances to Sunday’s championship game in the double-elimination tournament. Oregon State made the most of a meager offensive attack, scoring four runs on four hits. Madison Simon hit a solo homer to lead off the third inning.
