Ohio State Buckeyes in 24th place after first round of NCAA men's golf

Sophomore Maxwell Moldovan led Ohio State with a 71 on Friday. Ohio State was tied for 24th place after the first day of the NCAA men’s golf championship in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Buckeyes’ five golfers shot a 20-over-par 300. Maxwell Moldovan led the Buckeyes with a 1-over 71 and is in 15th place. Adam Wallin shot a 74. Jackson Chandler carded a round of 76 while Patrick Schmucking came in with a 79 and JonErik Alford an 80. “We learned a lot about the golf course today,” said OSU coach Jay Moseley. “It’s obviously presented everybody with some challenge with the conditions and the way they’ve set this place up but just like we talked about last night, every hole out here is fair.” Vanderbilt leads with a 2-over 282. After Sunday’s third round, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams.
