Ohio State football names C.J. Stroud and five Iron Buckeyes as 2022 captains


COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State football turned over most of its captains for 2022, infusing a new brand of leadership for a program looking to bounce back from a sub-standard finish. Starting quarterback C.J. Stroud received the most votes for the player-voted honor. The other five players selected were, probably not coincidentally, recognized as Iron Buckeyes in the offseason for their diligence and performance in workouts. • Stroud was a Heisman Trophy finalist last season and is the first returning starter at quarterback who originally signed with the Buckeyes since 2017. He is the reigning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. • Kamryn Babb has endured four torn ACLs while playing in seven games over three seasons.
