In the fourth quarter of Ohio State’s 23-3 win against Indiana, I got a text from a friend of mine from Louisville. He’s a big Ohio State fan and said, “I like this quarterback.” Ohio State was in the red zone at the time, and moments after his text, junior Kyle McCord had two straight incompletions, a red zone fade to Marvin Harrison Jr. and a tight window throw to Julian Fleming. Advertisement My friend responded, again, “Don’t like these two throws.” That was Ohio State’s day in a nutshell. McCord was good at times, bad at others, but average most of the way. It was enough of a “mixed bag,” to use Ryan Day’s words, that it drew some extreme reactions from Ohio State fans. Some are out on McCord, and this season. Others think he just needs time.
