AP: Ohio State is Unanimous #1

Joseph Maiorana – USA TODAY Sports Back in January, the Ohio State Buckeyes made history by becoming the first national champion of the College Football Playoff era. As Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes prepare to defend their title in 2015, they have made history yet again becoming the first unanimous preseason No. 1 in the Associated Press college football poll, released on Sunday. Will their historic start be too much pressure on their quest to repeat as national champions this season? There’s no denying that this team deserves the top spot in the preseason poll. The defending champs bring back almost everyone from last season’s title run after losing zero underclassmen to the NFL this spring. They also add a couple of key players who are returning from injury like two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Braxton Miller, currently moving from quarterback to receiver for 2015, and J.T. Barrett, who stepped into the void left by Miller’s injury and led the team to an 11-1 record before suffering an injury against the Michigan Wolverines. Barrett is currently locked in a quarterback battle with Cardale Jones who led the team in the final three games of their championship run. The Buckeyes are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball with a coach in Urban Meyer who has proven adept at getting his teams to play at an elite level. All of that combined made the Buckeyes an easy choice for AP voters with Ohio State grabbing all 61 first-place votes in the initial poll. …
