Michigan State Football: Connor Cook, JT Barrett named Co-Offensive Big Ten Players of the week

The Spartans’ fifth-year senior was two yards shy of the MSU all time passing record, but despite falling short, still did enough to earn his first Big Ten player of the week award of his career. Connor Cook, who threw for a carrer-high 398 yards and four touchdowns against the Indiana Hoosiers, split Big Ten offensive player of the week honors with Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett, who totaled 324 yards and five touchdowns of his own. Connor Cook had the best day — statistically — of his career against Indiana, passing for 398 yards and four touchdowns. The split award couldn’t be more fitting moving into the Spartans’ bye week. After No. 6 MSU (8-0, 4-0) was able to survive a scare against the Michigan Wolverines earlier in the month — while the Spartans won’t admit it — they can, for the most part, set their sights on what always has appeared to be — and still is — the biggest game of the season, when they travel to Columbus to take on the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes (8-0, 4-0) on Nov. 21. A year ago, the Buckeyes ended the Spartans’ national title hopes, on college gameday, in Michigan State’s back yard, sparking the run to their own title.
