Bucks Lead 27-7 Over the Colorado Buffalos

A team like the Colorado Buffalos appears to be just what a team like Ohio State needed for a bounce-back game, as the Buckeyes lead Colorado 20-7 at the half.

The main storyline heading into today’s game, was the first career start of talented true freshman, Braxton Miller, at the QB position for the Buckeyes. So far in the game, Miller has been very productive with his legs, but mediocre – at best – with his arm. After starting the game 0-3, Miller finally found fellow freshman, Devin Smith, for a 32-yard touchdown pass with just under 8 minutes to go before the half.

Ohio State’s defense appears to be playing with a chip on their shoulder today, and completely shut-down Colorado’s offense in the first quarter, limiting the Buffs to just to just 8 yards of total offense. However, after the Miller-Smith connection that gave the Bucks a 17-0 advantage, Colorado’s, Tyler Hansen found former scUM receiver, Toney Clemons, for a touchdown on 4th & 1 for Colorado. The score capped a 10 play, 83-yard drive for Colorado, which chewed 5:09 off the clock.

With just over two minutes remaining before halftime, the Buckeyes offense sputtered, and was forced to punt after three plays. However, Rodney Stewart, failed to secure the punt for Colorado, and Ohio State once again took control on offense. Coach Fickell continued his streak of questionable judgement, however, and with 6 seconds remaining in the second, and kicked a FG, giving the Bucks a 20-7 lead at the break.

Overall, the defense has done a fine job limiting Colorado’s offensive productivity and the offense, at least this week, is clicking despite Miller’s questionable throwing ability.

The Bucks have scored on their first possession of the second half, giving the Buckeyes a 27-7 lead. Here’s to the Miller Era, and a (apparent) Buckeye Victory!
