Ohio State Football: Urban Meyer Steals Another Top Recruit

During Jim Tressel’s time at Ohio State, he never went after recruits that were already committed to another school. Urban Meyer has a different, more aggressive approach.

In the last 24 hours, Meyer has landed two top recruits who were previously committed to Penn State and Michigan State.

The most recent player to jump ship and join Meyer’s first recruiting class is Se’von Pittman, out of Canton, Ohio. Pittman is rated as a 4-star and the eighth-best defensive end in the nation by rivals.com. He was previously committed to Michigan State, but since Meyer’s hiring in November there has been a great deal of speculation on whether or not Pittman would change his mind and join the Buckeyes.

The product out of Canton, Ohio is a pure pass-rusher with a ton of athleticism. In order to succeed as an overall player at the next level, Pittman will have to bulk up a little more. He has huge upside and a great ability to make big plays, especially when getting after the quarterback. This is a huge grab for Meyer and could only be the beginning of a huge month for Ohio State recruiting.
