John Groce took the Ohio Bobcats farther in the NCAA tournament than they had been in nearly 50 years and now he has the opportunity to turn around a struggling Illinois program. He will be introduced as the school men’s basketball coach at a press conference Thursday at 2pm ET.
In four seasons at Ohio, Groce was 85-56 overall and 34-30 in MAC games.
He also offers a lot when it comes to recruiting, this will especially be important in the Chicago area.
This is a great opportunity for John Groce and he certainly deserves it after his bangup job in Athens.
