Ohio State Football Breaking News: Former RB Dan Herron Drafted by Bengals

Former Ohio State running back Daniel “Boom” Herron has been selected by the Cincinnati Bengals as the No. 191 pick in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL draft.

Known for his physical running style, Herron rushed for a career 2,872 yards and 32 touchdowns off 4.8 yards per carry. He was also a factor in the passing game, catching 44 balls for 309 yards and a score.

Cincinnati released RB Cedric Benson this offseason, leaving room on the depth chart. It signed former Patriot BenJarvus Green-Ellis, who saw limited playing time with New England.

Herron was a member of the Ohio State memorabilia scandal that stripped the Buckeyes of their 12 wins in 2010. He was suspended for the first six games of 2011.

Still, he provides much-needed depth at the position and could be an immediate factor if Green-Ellis does not pan out.
