Ohio State corks kegs on game day

Ohio State once seemed an unlikely candidate to lead the campaign for alcohol reform in college athletics.

A decade ago, the school had a nationally ranked party scene — No. 12 according to Playboy magazine — to go along with its powerhouse football program. The team and its fans regularly seized headlines for their abuse of alcohol — from quarterback Steve Bellisari’s arrest for driving nearly three times over the legal limit the morning before his final home game in 2001 to the off-campus riots after the Buckeyes’ win over Michigan in 2002.
