Highly-Recruited WR Commits To Ohio State

WR from Maryland says he’ll join OSU in 2013.

COLUMBUS, Ohio —

He’s run 40-yard times below 4.4 seconds. And when you watch video of Taivon Jacobs playing football, he looks the part.

Jacobs, a senior-to-be from District Heights, Md., announced Thursday he will play his college football at Ohio State. Jacobs scored 19 touchdowns during his junior season and showed flashes of brilliance as a kick returner and a safety as well.

Jacobs is the the first player to commit to the 2013 class as a receiver, although his role at Ohio State could be diverse.

“I was excited to hear I was the 1st receiver to commit… coach Urban Meyer said if he could he’d want me to play this year. He was honest with you — kept it real.” Jacobs said.? ? “I like being a game changer, but if they need me at defense i’d surely play defense.”

Jacobs had at least 17 major scholarship offers. He’s rated as a three-star recruit by several major recruiting services, but many expect his rating to rise this season.

He’s the 15th player to commit to the 2013 OSU class. OSU may have room to sign five more players in next year’s class.
