Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer wants defense to lead

COLUMBUS — In the jungle that is Urban Meyer’s first fall football camp at Ohio State, the quarterbacks are “caged tigers.”

That is by decree of the new coach.

Meyer has been around long enough to win two national championships. He’s also smart enough to know it wouldn’t be smart to feed Braxton Miller and Kenny Guiton to the wolves on his defensive line.

“We open that cage on Sept. 1,” Meyer said at OSU Media Day on Sunday, referring to the opener against the Miami Redhawks. “Up until then, they won’t be touched.”
