On Saturday, September 8, No. 14 Ohio State beat Central Florida 31-16 improve to 2-0 on the season. Braxton Miller led the Buckeyes with 296 total yards and four touchdowns.

Here are five thoughts on the game:

Central Florida

One thing is clear about Central Florida after this game: the Knights are dangerous. This game wasn’t your run-of-the-mill early-season game for the Buckeyes. Central Florida has some solid skill players on both sides of the ball, especially on the defensive line. You won’t find it on the scoreboard or in the box score, but the Knights pressured Braxton Miller multiple times throughout the game. There were also times when the Buckeyes’ defense proved unable to stop Central Florida. The Knights are a worthy opponent, which makes it easier to analyze the 31-16 Ohio State win.

Miller’s performance

Miller was the star of the afternoon for the Buckeyes. Head coach Urban Meyer probably doesn’t want to hear the Heisman talk surrounding his young quarterback, but it’s going to be there as long as Miller keeps running for over 140 yards per game. He’s the fuel that makes the Buckeyes’ offense go, both through the air and on the ground.

However, Miller isn’t perfect. He still makes some questionable decisions with the football, and his throws are often short due to poor mechanics. The good thing is that both of those problems are fixable. Miller is a smart kid who will continue to make better decisions as his career progresses. The main issue with his mechanics is that he doesn’t use his legs to throw the ball. That’s something that can be worked out on the practice field.
