Ohio State Football: Why I Am Rooting for the Buckeyes to Lose

Before any Ohio State homers get a brain hemorrhage trying to think of something inflammatory to write in the comments section, I should throw out this disclaimer—I am an Ohio State alum and diehard Buckeyes fan. I am not some Ohio State hater. Going 12-0 this year would be awful to stomach. Therefore, I am rooting against it. I am rooting for 11-1 with a loss to anyone remaining on the schedule (although preferably not Michigan). Here is why. 12-0 gets Buckeye fans nothing but heartache, mental anguish and an even more permanent reminder of the improprieties that landed Ohio State a bowl ban penalty for this year, among other penalties. Let me say, once again, that not only were those penalties fair, but they did not go far enough. Ohio State going 12-0 is a very real possibility, and so is all those aforementioned issues. The Buckeyes currently sit at 7-0. Their next three games are a pupu platter combination of Purdue, Penn State and Illinois. I cannot fathom them losing…
