OSU’s Roby semifinalist for Thorpe Award

The awards watch continues Monday as the Thorpe Award — given to the nation’s top defensive back — revealed its list of 15 semifinalists.

Only one Big Ten player appears: Ohio State sophomore cornerback Bradley Roby. He has been outstanding this season, recording 42 tackles, two interceptions, one blocked kick, one fumble recovered and a whopping 16 pass breakups, which leads the nation. Roby leads the nation in total passes defended with 18. He has scored three touchdowns — one on an interception return, one on a fumble recovery and one on a recovery of a blocked punt by fellow cornerback Travis Howard.
