Ohio State Football: Fast Start a Key to Victory over Wisconsin

Ohio State faces perhaps its toughest test of the season on Saturday, and getting off to a fast start will be critical.

It’s easy to note the importance of a quick start in football, but some teams are capable of coming from behind while others, like Ohio State, are better off with an early lead.

Take the game against Cal for example. It’s not the most impressive of victories, but it may not be a win at all if it weren’t for the 20-7 lead the Buckeyes took into halftime.

Or how about their matchup with Indiana back on October 13? Ohio State led 24-14 at halftime and held on to win 52-49 in a wild shootout. Had the team fallen behind early, it would have been difficult to come back against a Hoosiers team that was putting points on the board whenever it felt like it.

Of course, games like the one against Purdue are an exception. That time, the Buckeyes tied the game up with seconds remaining and held off the Boilermakers in overtime.
