Florida keeps title hopes alive; Ohio St perfect

Florida kept its national title hopes intact and Ohio State finished its perfect season.

The big game came later, with No. 1 Notre Dame playing at Southern California, but the early games on Saturday provided plenty of drama and excitement.

In Tallahassee, Fla., the fourth-ranked Gators scored 24 straight fourth-quarter points behind Mike Gillislee and a hard-hitting defense and beat No. 10 Florida State 37-26.

The Gators (11-1) could work their way into the BCS championship game with a Notre Dame upset.

Florida will be shut out of the SEC title game, though. No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Georgia will play in that game next Saturday, with the winner likely going on to the BCS championship game.

Ohio State (12-0) finished its bowl-banned season by beating rival Michigan 26-21. NCAA sanctions will keep the Buckeyes out of the postseason and might have cost Urban Meyer’s first Ohio State team a shot at the national championship.
