If you’ve been throwing pennies and nickels into your piggy bank to save up for an Ohio State football game or two next season, you may want to consider tossing in dimes and quarters instead.
According to Bill Rabinowitz of The Columbus Dispatch, football ticket prices could see a 13 percent increase if a proposal by the university’s athletic council—the meeting will be held from Jan. 31-Feb. 1—is accepted by the school’s board of trustees.
“We’ve been in the black and continue to be in the black, and our objective is to stay in the black,” said athletic director Gene Smith, who is determined to make sure the athletic program remains profitable. “We have always been self-supporting and now we transfer quite a bit back in support of academic initiatives and we pay for our own scholarships.”
