Ohio State Football Recruiting: Players Who Will Shine as Freshman

Urban Meyer has done it again, as the recruiting master led Ohio State to a great recruiting class that will reap instant and long-term dividends.

The Buckeyes’ 2013 class is ranked fourth in 247Sports’ team rankings and third in ESPN’s.

Here are some of the bigger studs of the class, who will make an instant impact.

Vonn Bell is the prototypical safety. He is 6’0″, 180 pounds and, according to 247Sports, he runs the 40 in 4.45 seconds.

In 247Sports’ composite rankings, he is the second-best safety in this class.

He is effective in the run game. He is a solid but not great tackler, but he takes great angles and covers a lot of ground.

He is also strong in pass coverage—especially in zone coverage. He has good instincts and solid ball skills.

Along with our next recruit, Bell is going to bolster the Buckeyes’ secondary from Day 1.
