Report: video shows Carlos Hyde didn’t hit alleged victim (NBC Sports)

Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports is used to putting college programs under the microscope and coming out with some damning information on the other end.

He’s reversing field this time, and it just so happens to benefit Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde. Maybe.

Robinson reports, citing a source, that video footage from a Columbus nightclub appears to clear Hyde of any wrongdoing in an incident over the weekend that involved the assault of a female victim. Hyde, though not officially charged in the incident, was reportedly named a person of interest. He was later indefinitely suspended by Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer.

The source said video shows Hyde speaking in the direction of the alleged victim just prior to her punching him in the head. The video then shows Hyde leaving the area and reaching back in the woman’s direction in a non-confrontational manner, the source said. From the video, it doesn’t appear Hyde ever made contact with the woman – either before or after she struck him, the source said.
