Another week in the AP Poll, another drop for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Last week, it was Oregon jumping Ohio State for No. 2 and this week it is Clemson jumping Ohio State, dropping the Buckeyes to No. 4 for Week 3.
Why the drop this week? After all, didn’t Ohio State bury San Diego State this past week and Clemson beat an FCS opponent?
That seems to be the pattern for the Buckeyes this year though, as Oregon did the same thing last week and managed to jump Ohio State.
Surely a lackluster overall effort on the part of the Buckeyes can’t be the reason this time around, right?
Instead, perhaps it was voters’ fears over the knee injury that star quarterback Braxton Miller suffered early on in the game. After all, without Miller this team is in some serious trouble, right?
It’s really the only thing one can point to because the results against San Diego State don’t suggest a reason to drop the Buckeyes alone.
Ohio State gave up all of 63 yards on the ground to the Aztecs, while gaining an impressive 263 yards of their own in the rushing game. The Buckeyes defense also forced two interceptions and sacked Aztecs quarterback Quinn Kaehler three times as well.
Perhaps it was a group of voters that saw the injury headline and never bothered to do their homework on his replacement, Ken Guiton?
