Kenny Guiton Becomes 1st Ohio State QB to Throw 6 Touchdown Passes in 1 Game

Much of the talk surrounding the Ohio State football team heading into Saturday’s game against the Florida A&M Rattlers focused on quarterback Braxton Miller missing the game, but replacement Kenny Guiton changed that in a hurry with a record-breaking performance.

According to Marcus Hartman of FOX Sports Ohio, Guiton’s six touchdown passes in the first half broke a school record for most touchdown tosses in a single game.

Miller also missed the Buckeyes’ game against California last week due to a sprained knee ligament, according to ESPN.com, and head coach Urban Meyer was unwilling to take any chances with his star signal-caller. Meyer suddenly appears to have two star quarterbacks on his hands, however.

Guiton’s first-half performance was better than most quarterbacks could ever dream of putting on over the course of an entire game. In addition to his six touchdown passes, Guiton threw for 215 yards on 24-of-34 passing along with just one interception en route to a 55-0 lead at the break.

Guiton was deadly in the red zone as all six of his scores came inside Florida A&M’s 20-yard line. While it’s difficult to get too excited about tearing apart an FCS defense, Guiton has been incredibly impressive in relief of Miller.
