October, 27, 2013 Oct 27 9:00 AM ET COLUMBUS, Ohio — A closer look at the standouts in No. 4 Ohio State’s 63-14 thrashing of Penn State on Saturday night at the Horseshoe. QB Braxton Miller: The bar is being raised seemingly every single week, and the junior just keeps on clearing it. Miller made it look routine to carve up the Nittany Lions, and for the second consecutive week, he made a strong case that he had turned in the most complete performance of his career. The latest one included 252 yards and three touchdowns through the air and 68 more yards and two scores on the ground, as Miller looked exactly like the Heisman Trophy favorite he was expected to be in the preseason.
DE Noah Spence: A pass rush that had been inconsistent at best and nonexistent at worst finally arrived, with the sensational sophomore almost single-handedly providing the type of disruptive effort the Buckeyes have been craving. Spence was a force on the edge, bulling his way to two sacks, adding another tackle for loss and a forced fumble as Ohio State flustered the Nittany Lions from start to finish.
RB Carlos Hyde: The streak without losing any yardage continued, but it was what Hyde did when he got past it that really turned heads as he showed yet another dimension to his game against the Nittany Lions. The senior was more than just a bullish, short-yardage threat during his short outing, breaking off a season-long rush of 39 yards for a touchdown on the way to 147 yards for the game, flashing his improved athleticism and ability to hit a home run to complement his ruthlessness in the red zone.
