Not only did Auburn’s thrilling last-second victory over Alabama knock the Crimson Tide out of the national championship hunt and catapult the Tigers right into the thick of things, the unlikely finish gives the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes an inside track to a spot in the title game for the time-being.
The Buckeyes, who knocked off Michigan earlier in the day, were certainly aware of the impact the Iron Bowl had on its title chances. The team watched the drama unfold on the team bus on the drive back to Columbus.
