COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State’s season isn’t over yet, but we just couldn’t help ourselves. With still three weeks until the Buckeyes play Alabama in a College Football Playoff semifinal at the Sugar Bowl, we decided to take a look back at Ohio State’s 2014 season. Today Doug, Ari and I give our picks for Ohio State’s season-defining game. Doug Lesmerises’ season-defining game If I hear anyone talk about how losing to Virginia Tech or getting taken to double overtime against Penn State was a good thing for the Buckeyes, I’m going to have Joey Bosa push a running back into them. The Buckeyes played close games and won in the end against Minnesota, Indiana and Michigan by out-talenting them. The Virginia Tech and Penn State games didn’t do it. So the season was defined by another game that wasn’t all that close – the 49-37 win at Michigan State that was an 11-point game entering the fourth quarter. It was Ohio State’s revenge game from last year’s Big Ten Championship loss and on the road against the second-best team in the Big Ten this year. And without that win, the Buckeyes wouldn’t have reached the Big Ten title game. They would have been home watching Michigan State destroy Wisconsin. Ari Wasserman’s season-defining game This is the easiest question to answer because there’s only one answer — the Buckeyes’ 49-37 win over Michigan State. That win was so big on so many levels. It was the first victory over a quality opponent of the Urban Meyer era at Ohio State, but it also thrust the Buckeyes back into the College Football Playoff conversation when the Virginia Tech loss seemed to eliminate them from that discussion…
