Ohio State Buckeyes prepare for National Championship

The Ohio State Buckeyes are closing in on the biggest game of the year: the National Championship game in Dallas, Texas on Monday night against the Oregon Ducks and the scarlet and gray fever is everywhere.

It stretches from Columbus, to Cleveland and all stops in between; that includes Urbana, Ohio which will officially change its name for one day to Urban, Ohio on Monday in honor of Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer.

“You’re kidding.  (Laughter) Urbana, Ohio is dropping the A?,” said Meyer.  “Wow, that’s very nice.”

The Buckeyes are putting together their game plan for the biggest game of the season despite not practicing on Tuesday.  Ohio State will play for the school’s 8th national title and first in 13 years.

“It’s exciting because we are chasing the ultimate goal, that has always been our goal since mid-season when we knew we could do something special,” said Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones. “It’s very exciting, very emotional not just for me but for my teammates as well.”

Jones will lead the Ohio State offense in Dallas, Texas on Monday night.  He is the third string quarterback this season for the Buckeyes and played his high school football right here in northeast Ohio at Glenville High School.  If we learned anything about #12 from the Big Ten title game or the Sugar Bowl, it’s that nothing fazes him, not even the big stage.
