Updated FEB 04, 2015 7:46p ET COLUMBUS, Ohio — Concussion issues have likely ended the football career of Ohio State cornerback Armani Reeves, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said Wednesday. Reeves was a key contributor over the last two seasons, often as an extra cornerback against spread offenses. The three-year player from West Roxbury, Mass., missed four games last season but was active when he was in the lineup. He finished the season with 14 tackles and four pass breakups. Meyer didn’t offer many details on Reeves’ situation and said he needed to gather more information because he’d been “running around the country” finalizing Ohio State’s 2015 recruiting class. The Buckeyes signed 27 players Wednesday on National Signing Day. Ohio State is back to 85 scholarships for 2015 with NCAA sanctions expired. Meyer said safety/linebacker Devan Bogard, who suffered a third torn ACL in three years, and backup safety/special teamer Ron Tanner are also done playing football due to injury. “Those are big holes to fill,” Ohio State defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator Kerry Coombs said. “Depth is an issue for us right now on the back end.” Meyer said the Buckeyes went through the postseason short on scout teamers and special teams players due to injuries. They’ll reload with another recruiting class that Scout.com ranks among the top five nationally and the growth and return of players from previous classes. The Buckeyes won the national championship with 11 of their 22 listed title-game starters either freshmen or sophomores.
