Feb. 17, 2015Final Stats Final Stats  Senior Whitney Bays tied a career-high with 27 points. COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Purdue women’s basketball team collided with a red-hot shooting Ohio State squad on Tuesday night, dropping a 92-60 contest at the Buckeye’s Value City Arena. Despite a career-high 27 points from senior Whitney Bays, the Boilermakers fell to 10-16 overall and 3-12 in Big Ten Conference play. Things played even over the first seven minutes of Tuesday night’s game, as the Boilermakers defended well early and knocked down four of their first seven shots from the field to square things at 11-11. However that’s when the run started for Ohio State as junior Ameryst Alston led the Buckeyes on a 24-4 run over the next eight minutes and the game got out of hand. The Boilermakers started to answer Ohio State on offense, but the Buckeyes poured in 51.3 percent from the floor (20-39) and seven-of-12 from behind the arc, taking a 52-29 lead to the locker room. Purdue played things about even with the Buckeyes the rest of the way, but the hole was too deep as Ohio State answered every Boilermaker run and coasted to its 18th win of the season (18-9) and 10th win in conference play (10-5). Alston finished with 26 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, while freshman Kelsey Mitchell had 17 points, eight assists and eight boards and classmate Alexa Hart had 19 points before fouling out. Bays hit 11-of-21 from the field, matching her career-high mark set against Indiana this season, adding six rebounds. Sophomore Ashley Morrissette was the only other player in double-figures for the Boilermakers, turning in 15 points. Purdue returns to action on Saturday, hosting Illinois in Mackey Arena for Stephanie White Bobblehead Day. The Boilermakers will give out 2,000 figurines of the 1999 NCAA Champion and All-American and honor her at halftime of the game, along with all Purdue women’s basketball alumni in attendance
