Ohio State player Kosta Karageorge did not have brain trauma before suicide

A coroner has reported there was no trauma to an Ohio State football player’s brain before he committed suicide, according to ESPN.com. Former Ohio State walk-on  Kosta Karageorge was found dead in a trash bin on Nov. 30 with a gun in his right hand. Dr. Anahi Ortiz waited on neuropathology reports on Karageorge’s brain before making the Friday announcement. She said her previous assessment that Karageorge committed suicide will not change. Investigators looking into Karageorge’s death determined that he and his girlfriend broke up on Nov. 26. After retaining his text message records, investigators discovered that Karageorge texted his ex-girlfriend that he wanted to talk, to which she replied for him to leave her alone. He then replied, “I am gonna kill myself” and said she shouldn’t go to his funeral. Karageorge texted his mother moments later, saying that concussions have messed with his mind and that he hoped he wasn’t an embarrassment. Ortiz’s announcement stated Karageorge did suffer concussions, but his brain did not show signs of trauma.
