Reaction to Ohio State WR Devin Smith getting selected by New York Jets in NFL Draft 2015

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State receiver Devin Smith admitted the wait was starting to get to him.

Smith, the Buckeyes go-to deep threat over the course of his career, was invited to Chicago for the NFL Draft after all. That comes with some expectation that you might get selected in the first round.

That didn’t happen. Smith watched all 32 picks in Thursday’s first round go by without his name being called. He didn’t have to wait long Friday.

Smith was selected with the fifth pick of the second round, No. 37 overall, by the New York Jets on Friday night. He was the first Ohio State player off the board on a night that could end with three, possibly four Buckeyes in total hearing their name called.
