Teams are starting to come together after spring camp Related While TCU has received plenty of preseason hype, Sports Illustrated ranked the Baylor Bears No. 2 in its post-spring power rankings. The only team ranked ahead of the Bears is the defending champion Ohio State Buckeyes. “It would’ve seemed strange to write only a few years ago, but the Bears’ playmakers get the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise,” Sports Illustrated’s Ben Glickman wrote. The Bears return 18 of their 22 starters on both sides of the ball, including a pair of 1,000-yard receivers in KD Cannon and Corey Coleman. If Seth Russell can step in and have some success at quarterback, the Bears should be competitive once again for a Big 12 title. The aforementioned Horned Frogs came in at No. 6 in the nation, behind only the Buckeyes, Bears, Auburn, Alabama and Michigan State. “TCU entered this spring as a trendy pick to challenge Ohio State atop the preseason polls,” Glickman wrote. “And while there is plenty of cause for optimism, namely the return of quarterback Trevone Boykin and 10 offensive starters, there are also lots of question marks.” In addition to the pair of Texas private schools in the top 10, Oklahoma came in at 22 and the Oklahoma State Cowboys came in at No. 25. The Texas Longhorns were also mentioned among the honorable mention candidates.
