Ohio State to open season in primetime vs. Va. Tech

Updated MAY 15, 2015 12:48p ET Everyone knew what team Ohio State was going to face in its 2015-16 season opener, but the date and time were still to be determined. Well, the wait is over. The revenge game is on. On Monday, September 7 at 8 p.m., the Buckeyes will take on Virginia Tech in their first trip to Blacksburg. The two teams met for the first time last season, and Tech pulled off the upset beating the Bucks 35-21. The loss snapped the nation’s longest regular season winning streak at 25 games. Also, it ended a streak of 35 consecutive home opening wins, and 64 consecutive wins at Ohio Stadium over unranked, non-conference opponents. September 6, 2014 was the date, and following the Buckeyes loss, the world declared the Big Ten dead in the College Football Playoff race. The rest, as they say, is history, but Buckeye Nation has been chomping at the bit to get another shot at the Hokies. Along with the season opener, the Buckeyes have three other primetime games scheduled at this time according to the team’s website.
