Published: Tuesday, 6/30/2015 – Updated: 6 minutes ago At autism fund-raiser, Meyer roots for university where he began BY DAVID BRIGGSBLADE SPORTS WRITER Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer recently confided that the Buckeyes’ impending quarterback derby is beginning to eat at him.  Naturally, Dan Dakich did not tread around the debate lightly.  As only Meyer’s wisecracking buddy could Monday in Perrysburg, he introduced the guest of honor by feigning to read three letters. The former Bowling Green State University basketball coach said Buckeyes’ three quarterbacks each gave him an envelope to share with the hundreds on hand for the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio’s “Urban For Autism” fund-raiser at the Hilton Garden Inn.  They read as follows: ? “Coach, those other two guys suck. Start me. Signed, Cardale Jones.” ? “Coach, I saved you last year. Start me. J.T. Barrett.” ? “Coach, you came here because I’m a Heisman trophy candidate. Screw them. Start me. Braxton Miller.” Meyer smiled, and the audience roared.  In truth, if anyone could handle the Great Quarterback Debate, Dakich said it was the man he called one of his best friends — the confidant who called regularly to check on him after he was fired by BG in 2007 — and the best coach in the nation.  Dakich said Meyer proved it where it all began, just down I-75 in Bowling Green, where he landed his first head coaching job in 2001 and spent two memorable seasons there.  After former Falcons basketball player Brent Klassen poignantly shared his experience raising two autistic sons, Dakich introduced the three-time national champion coach. …
