John Kampf: 2015 lining up to be special for Ohio State football team

Another day, another Buckeye to watch. Make that two more Buckeyes to watch. The Maxwell Football Club on July 8 released its preseason watch lists for the Rimington Trophy and Mackey Award, postseason honors that go to college football’s most outstanding center and tight end, respectively. Ohio State center Jacoby Boren and tight end Nick Vannett were among those pinpointed as preseason players to watch on their respective lists. Advertisement This comes on the heels of defensive end Joey Bosa and linebacker Joshua Perry being on the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award (defensive player of the year), and H-backs Jalin Marshall and Dontre Wilson being on the watch list for the Paul Hornung Award (most versatile player). This comes on the coattails of running back Ezekiel Elliott and the quarterback triumvirate of J.T. Barrett, Cardale Jones and Braxton Miller all being on the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which goes to America’s College Player of the Year. This all comes after four Buckeyes — four — were listed as having 25-to-1 odds or better to win the 2015 Heisman Trophy this year, including one — Miller — who didn’t even take a snap last year as he recovered from surgery.
