Buckeyes Up For Three ESPN ESPY Awards

COLUMBUS, Ohio -Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer is taking Cardale Jones and a couple other teammates to California for ESPN’s ESPY Awards. Joining them will be Braxton Miller, Ezekiel Elliot and Joshua Perry to represent the Buckeyes at the awards. Ohio State is nominated for three awards. The Buckeyes are competing for the title Team of the Year against the UConn women’s basketball team, the New England Patriots, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Blackhawks and the U.S. women’s soccer team. “It’s a humbling experience for us because I mean we are one or two college teams or college players there,” said Jones. Jones is up for Best Breakthrough Athlete against New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Little League Baseball player Mo’ne Davis and golfer Jordan Spieth. Meyer is nominated for Best Coach/Manager. Though Miller did not play during the National Championship, his teammates all agreed that his dedication to leading Ohio State never changed. “Just being a leader in my position you always got to lead on and off the field, even if you’re not playing,” Miller said. …
