Delaware County law-enforcement officials hope a former Buckeyes superstar’s advice will help keep area kids on the right path.The Delaware Police Department and Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office will host “An Evening with Maurice Clarett” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Willis Intermediate School, 74 W. William St. Attendance is free, but space is limited. “We’re trying to reach kids, frankly,” Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O’Brien said. “What better way (is there) to reach kids than a sports star?” Clarett is expected to discuss his rise to college football prominence and his descent into crime after a brief attempt to enter the NFL. “I think he’s got an important message about success and failure — and how you succeed after failure,” said Capt. Adam Moore of the Delaware Police Department. Clarett helped lead Ohio State’s football team to a national championship as a freshman running back in the 2002 season. He never played another season for the Buckeyes. Clarett was suspended from the team and eventually dismissed by the university for receiving improper benefits. He was selected by the Denver Broncos in the 2005 NFL Draft but never played a snap in the regular season…
