Ohio State Buckeyes: Butter sculptures of Urban Meyer, Brutus grace Ohio State Fair

Updated JUL 28, 2015 at 1:37p ET Ohio State football’s 2014 national championship squad has been honored multiple times since January, and opportunities to recognize the Buckeyes winning the first College Football Playoff are starting to run low as the 2015 season approaches. Of course there was no way the Ohio State Fair and American Dairy Association Mideast were not going to take the chance to put its unique spin on commemorating OSU. The first butter cow and calf sculptures appeared at the state fair near Ohio State’s campus in Columbus in the early 20th Century. Sculptures have been made of Neil Armstrong, Jack Nicklaus, Darth Vader, Olympics athletes, the armed forces, the Liberty Bell and much more. The 2015 Ohio State Fair begins Wednesday and goes through August 9. The butter sculptures can be found in the Dairy Products Building, where fairgoers can also purchase a variety of dairy products, including ice cream, milkshakes and cheese sandwiches.
