Pryor will not play in the Cleveland Browns’ intrasquad scrimmage because of a hamstring strain, but he will make the trip with the team, coach Mike Pettine said. It will be Pryor’s first visit back to The Horseshoe since he left the Buckeyes for the NFL supplemental draft in 2011. AP Photo/David Richard)When he left, Ohio State instituted a five-year ban on Pryor returning to the university, but it is lifting the ban because Pryor is a member of the Browns. Ohio State typically welcomes its athletes back to campus, allowing NFL players to use the weight room and giving them lockers in the team facility. They are always considered part of the Ohio State family. Pryor was given the ban because he did not cooperate in an NCAA investigation into whether OSU players received free tattoos in exchange for Buckeyes memorabilia. The NCAA suspended Pryor five games his senior season as part of the tattoo scandal, which prompted him to enter the supplemental draft. The NFL made the suspension applicable to his first five games with the Oakland Raiders. Pryor is attempting to make the switch from quarterback to receiver with the Browns, and missing the scrimmage means he will miss valuable time to prove he can make the move. “It’s unfortunate that he’s pulled up,” Pettine said. “Hopefully, we’ll get him back sooner than later.”
