Ohio State quarterback spot could be a coin flip

COLUMBUS — The Ohio State football team opened preseason camp Monday with a coin flip.

Practice could begin. The circus was under way.

With players dressed in helmets and shorts — the first day in full pads is Friday — the Buckeyes set off on their most compelling camp in program history.

As if Ohio State defending a national title was not enough, the day also featured the first act of its ultra-hyped quarterback race and its former two-time Big Ten MVP unveiling a new position and number. Braxton Miller emerged on the Buckeyes’ outdoor practice fields wearing not his old No. 5 but No. 1, as if to herald a new start as he shifts from quarterback to receiver.
