OSU Championship run double profits for retailers

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Ohio State football fans went crazy Wednesday when the new Buckeye-themed Nike Week Zero Trainer went on sale at 10 a.m. By early afternoon, most online retailers were sold out. “I tried to order these online at Nike’s website. A friend was told her size sold out in six minutes,” one fan tweeted. College Traditions, located at Lane Avenue, ordered 144 pairs of the much anticipated shoe. They cost $110 a pair. “It’s been absolutely crazy. As soon as we opened people were calling,” said Kelly Dawes, owner of the store. The quick sellout of the hyped shoe can be easily traced to the popularity of the Buckeyes among fans. And it doesn’t hurt that the team is the reigning National Champions of college football. Dawes said the season is paying off; profits are up as fans seek to grab a piece of history. …
